Lead Carpenter/Carpenter

Function of Position

This job category is an experienced position with TG Services, Inc. Primary responsibilities are: to manage construction site projects for a commercial and residential property owner. Position requires a lead carpenter, or a project carpenter that can open and close project work. The position requires a self-starter, problem solver, and a leader of workers.

Line of Authority

The lead carpenter / carpenter reports to the owner of TG Services, Inc.

Responsibilities

• Manage a project team of carpenters / apprentice and journeymen
• Open and close projects
• Read blue-prints and schematics related to the project
• This position requires technical proficiencies and literacies for devices & related software
• Complete daily reports and an evaluation process related to workers and project
• To assist the owner with performance evaluations of team members
• Good communication skills to address project issues and client involvement
• An understanding of required building codes, compliance with state regulations

Standards of Performance

The lead carpenter / carpenter will be rated satisfactory when the individual demonstrates:
• Knowledge of carpentry requirement
• Ability to start and finish projects
• Ability to manage and lead project teams
• Ability to understand project budgets and timelines for completion
• Knowledge of building codes, historic regulations, company policies and procedures
• Establishment and maintenance of an effective working relationship with the owner and other team members
• To maintain a safe and clean job site at all times

Horizontal & Outside Relationship

The lead carpenter / carpenter develops and maintains a positive working relationship with:
• Owner & CEO
• Business Developer
• Administrative Assistant & Office Staff
• Carpenters, Apprentice, Journeymen & Interns

Education & Experience

• Vocation Training, on the job, three years of relevant experience

Apprentice/Journeymen/Intern

Function of Position

This job category is for an apprentice, journeymen, intern. Primary responsibility is to assist carpenters on the job site, from job set-up, preparing lumber and materials, observing carpenters in all phases of construction. The apprentice will experience on the job training, tool safety, and academic skills related to the work-site.

Line of Authority

The apprentice / journeymen / intern reports to the lead carpenter of TG Services, Inc.

Responsibilities

The apprentice / journeymen / intern is responsible for:
• Assisting the carpenter for the onset of the days work
• Learning the steps in sequence from the lead carpenter
• Learning all materials’ sizes and dimensions
• Keeping the job-site clear of all debris and maintain a safe working environment
• Asking pertinent questions related to the work at hand
• Closing the job-site by keeping materials in an organized stack, keeping the site clean, clean all tools and keep them secured in a lockbox for the next day

Standards of Performance

The apprentice / journeymen / intern will be rated satisfactory when the individual demonstrates:
• Knowledge of beginning carpentry skills
• Ability to assist the lead carpenter in daily functions
• Ability to provide a safe working environment at all times
• Establishment and maintenance of an effective working relationship with all team members
• Knowledge of hand tools and the equipment care and maintenance
• Knowledge and compliance with safety protocols
• Knowledge and compliance with TG Services, Inc. policies and procedures

Horizontal & Outside Relationship

The apprentice / journeymen / intern develops and maintains a positive working relationship with:
• Owner and CEO
• Lead carpenter / team leader
• Other apprentice / journeymen / intern
• Office Staff

Education & Experience

The apprentice / journeymen / intern must have a vocational training background and is willing to continue training and education in the construction field.
